Seminar 8 – Official LIVE Project Booklet
The NJW LIVE Project Seminar 8 Official Booklet explores the legal foundations of atrocity crimes and the pathways to justice for communities affected by genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Featuring contributions from keynote speaker Toby Mendel and guest speakers Dr. M. Efe Caman and Joanne Hodges, the booklet examines international accountability mechanisms, evidence preservation, survivor-centred documentation, and case studies of state persecution, including the post-2016 purge in Turkey. It further highlights the importance of solidarity among affected communities and introduces the concept of “justice in the gaps,” emphasizing how survivors, diaspora communities, and civil society can advance truth, healing, and accountability even when formal legal systems are delayed or fail to respond.
